Whether you are searching to find a church home, trying to figure out who God is, or have been on a spiritual journey most of your life, you belong here! Our desire is to be a space where people of all generations, backgrounds and walks of life can meet to find community, explore their faith, and feel safe.
We would love to meet you and learn more about your story.
We know it can be a little intimidating to walk into a new place. Before you visit, here are some helpful answers to make you feel more comfortable:
Where do I park?
There is limited parking right beside the church, but thankfully there are lots of free parking lots near by. The Dutch Market across the street, and the Downtown Chatham Mall both have free parking on Sunday mornings. If you have mobility concerns, please use the parking lot beside the church and enter through the Garden Doors.
Where door should I go in?
There are several doors into our building. During this time of COVID precautions we are reducing usage to only two: The angled sanctuary door that faces North toward the intersection of Wellington and William streets and the door through our Memorial Garden.
What about kids?
We offer Sunday School for children aged 4-12 during our Sunday Service. Children are encouraged to sit with their parents for the first few minutes of the service, then are invited to join the minister at the front for a short Children's Time. Then they will head out to the Sunday School wing with our Youth Leaders. For our littlest friends, there is a Nursery just across the hall from the Worship Space doors just to the left of the stage.
What should I wear?
Come as you are! We want you to feel comfortable when you join us for a worship service. People wear anything from jeans and t-shirts to business casual.
What should I expect?
Our worship services includes times of singing, praying, scripture reading and a message from the minister and lasts approximately 60 minutes. Our music is accompanied on the pipe organ and/or piano and our choir or soloists provide special music as well. The words of prayers and lyrics for songs are displayed on two large screens at the front of the worship space so it is easy to follow along. If you have hearing concerns, we will provide you with assistance, just ask one of our greeters.
What about money?
St. Andrew’s is so grateful for the financial support we continue to receive through Pre-authorized Remittance (PAR), e-transfers and cheques that have been dropped off at the office. Like many businesses, we discourage the use of cash due to possible transmission of COVID to our treasurer and counters. If you are not already set up to give by PAR, please contact the church treasurer, Barbara Robbins at 591.352.0010 ext. 3. E-transfers can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org, with the passcode "givings". If you have any questions Barbara Robbins our treasurer or Vicky Bechard our secretary would be happy to help out. For those still wishing to use envelopes, baskets will be available when you enter the church, or you can mail or drop off your cheque at the office during the week. Our mailing address is: 85 William Street SouthChatham, ON N7M 4S5
Is your building accessible?
Yes. The office door off of Church Street is accessible for people with mobility concerns, as well as the door to the Garden pointing toward Wellington St.
What about COVID 19?
We are very concerned with everyone's health and safety, and are taking a carefully measured approach to re-opening our Sunday worship services to the public. We will continue to Live-stream our services on our Facebook page so they can be watched from the safety of your home.
